Decide what marketing work deserves attention
This playbook helps larger-project remodelers decide what to consider, why it matters, who owns it, what remodeling changes, and what evidence should change their minds.
It does not choose your business priorities for you. It also does not manage weekly tasks or teach every implementation step. Once your team adopts a play, your operating system owns its status, owner, dates, and execution. The Strategy Menu is the short list of plays a team is considering or has adopted.
Start with the priority already in front of you
Choose the function that most naturally owns the decision. One person may own several functions, and a vendor may perform the work. The function tells you where judgment lives; it is not an eleven-person org chart.
| If this sounds like the problem | Start here |
|---|---|
| Production is booked, the project mix is wrong, or the team is unsure what to try next | Strategy & Leadership, then the marketing decision spine |
| Traffic looks healthy but consultations are weak | Website & Conversion, supported by Measurement & Learning |
| The company is absent from maps, local results, or AI answers | Organic & Local Discovery, then local entity and SEO verification |
| Ads report good leads but Sales disagrees | Measurement & Learning, with Paid Acquisition and Sales Enablement |
| An organic video worked and the team may promote it | Performance creative learning, with Content as the source and Measurement and Operations supporting |
| Leads enter the CRM but follow-up has no owner | Sales Enablement, with Lifecycle & CRM and Marketing Operations |
| The company is considering a new service area | Decision spine, local verification, and acquisition economics |
| A vendor leaves and nobody knows who owns the accounts | Marketing Operations, then asset control and continuity |
| The question is when to request feedback, a review, referral, or send a gift | Relationships & Reputation, then the client experience play |
Choose direction
- Strategy & Leadership: choose outcomes, priorities, resources, and the few levers the company can support.
- Positioning & Messaging: clarify the right projects, buyers, promise, proof, and voice.
Earn and capture demand
- Website & Conversion: help homeowners understand fit, reduce uncertainty, and take a useful next step.
- Organic & Local Discovery: make the company accurate and findable for the services and markets it truly serves.
- Content & Audience: turn expertise, project evidence, and real questions into useful communication.
- Paid Acquisition: decide when paid demand capture or creative testing is economically ready.
Nurture trust and revenue
- Lifecycle & CRM: manage permission, segmentation, nurture, and long-cycle follow-up.
- Relationships & Reputation: steward client experience, feedback, reviews, referrals, recovery, and community.
- Sales Enablement: improve qualification, discovery, education, objections, proposals, and handoffs.
Run and learn
- Marketing Operations: protect accounts, assets, systems, vendors, automation, and continuity.
- Measurement & Learning: define trusted evidence, reconcile outcomes, and turn results into decisions.
Use the smallest useful loop
- Name the business problem or outcome in plain language.
- Open the most likely function and compare one to three plays.
- Check the prerequisites, tradeoffs, owner, useful measures, and important cautions.
- Record the adopted choice in the client Strategy Menu.
- Execute in the client system, review evidence, and decide what changes next.
Channels are levers, not departments. Content may create the source while Paid tests distribution. Measurement defines comparable evidence. Operations protects the systems. Plays make these handoffs explicit.
When you need implementation depth, follow the linked working asset or maintained reference. If a detail can be recreated reliably with a short AI prompt, it does not need permanent space here unless it protects trust, ownership, or an important handoff.

Use Tools & Examples in the sidebar when the next job is more concrete:
- Working assets are blank diagnostics, briefs, registers, matrices, and acceptance checks meant to be copied into the company's private operating system.
- Principles and journeys preserve the thinking that should shape many tactics, including Why Remodelers Are Different.
- Role definitions help assign or hire deliberately designed seats such as the Social Strategist, Meta performance partner, and Google Ads partner.
- Operating maps and runbooks preserve multi-stage work that is too consequential for a generic checklist, such as website launch and stabilization.
These pages are optional depth, not another curriculum to complete.
